THE COWS OF INDIA
Cow is a domestic animal which is extremely useful to human beings. This is one of the animals which have been used from the early ages to the present day. A group of cows is called cattle. These cattle are kept in huge acres of farms and are left to graze, this is called cattle farming. This is extensively practiced in America, England, and Australia etc.
USES OF COWS
Cows give us milk which is the important product from cows. Using milk, dairy products like ghee,butter,ice cream,cheese,yogurt(curd),paneer etc are produced. Their skin is a great source for leather with which clothes, baseball balls, shoes etc are made. Cows dung is extensively used as fuel in the villages of India and also as a fertilizer for the plants. The urine of the cows is also used in herbal soaps. The urine in cows acts as a great medicine for curing of skin diseases. Meat of the cow is a great source of food and vitamin.
IMPORTANCE OF COWS TO INDIANS
Cows have many uses to Indians than that to other nation people. In India there are many religions but the most dominant religion in India is Hinduism. So, according to the religious books of the Hindus the cows are meant to be sacred animals. Cows are not only sacred to Hindus but also too many regions like Zoroastrianism, Jainism and others. In India cow is treated as the mother goddess of India. So as a reason cows are meant to be sacred. As they are sacred cows are also put in temples to be prayed. Cows are also meant to be a symbol of wealth.In India, there is group of people belonging to a specific castecalled Brahmans (meant to be highly superstitious and the wisest of all).According to their tradition, these people have to drink the urine of the cow which removes all the sins the person has made. Therefore as a reason the cows are meant to be sacred animals.
SLAUGHTER OF COWS IN INDIA
Slaughtering of cows is practised not only in india but also in USA,Australia and many other countaries.Slaughtering of cows gives us beef which is of great demand and expensive.India stands 5th in the world in beef production, 7th in domestic consumption and 1st in exporting.As a result of slaughtering cows population number began to decrease from 1950s.After few years this came to government's notice,which forced government to bring in some measures to save cows and declared all slaughter houses to shut down immediately.Many of them refused to shut down causing the government to take strict action on them but it is still practised causing the cow's population to decrease rapidly.
